STAFFING & MANAGED SERVICES

Technology talent and managed services.

Contract and permanent engineers, delivery teams, and managed services for FORTUNE, mid-market, and startup clients. Since 2005.

Why people call us instead

You have to pick a vendor category before you know what the work needs. Staffing firm, integrator, or managed services. Guess wrong and procurement starts over. We’re all three, on one contract.

Building technology teams since 2005.

WHERE THIS STARTS

Your headcount is flat. The work isn’t.

Your board asked why headcount is climbing when the tools got so much better. Your CFO wants the number flat through the year. Meanwhile the roadmap didn’t shrink, the ERP still needs somebody who understands it, and the three people carrying all of it are updating their LinkedIn.

The honest answer is that some of that work needs a person. Some of it needs two people with good tooling instead of the five it used to take. And some of it shouldn’t be your problem at all.

Almost nobody selling you contractors has any reason to tell you which is which.

THE DIFFERENCE

Most suppliers have one thing to sell you.

A staffing firm sells placements. An integrator sells projects. A managed services provider sells a monthly contract. Whichever one you called, that’s the answer you’re going to get, because it’s the only answer they have.

We do all three. Recruiting is a big part of what we do and we’re good at it. But when the requirement lands and it’s really six weeks of project work, or a system that should sit with us instead of on your org chart, we can say so and still be useful to you.

It also means you can change your mind later. A contractor becomes a pod, a pod becomes a function we own, and none of it needs a new vendor or another trip through procurement.

The recommendation fits the work, not our product line.

THE THREE SHAPES

One decision: who runs it.

Clients move between all three. A contractor becomes a pod, a pod becomes a function we own, and none of it needs a second contract or another trip through procurement.

YOU RUN IT

People on your team

Our engineers, working to your priorities, in your standup.

Right when: the work is ongoing, the domain knowledge has to live in-house, and you have someone to manage them.

TWO SHAPES
ContractContract-to-hire
Direct placement
Executive searchPayrolling
WE RUN IT

A small team that ships

A pod with our own lead, working to an outcome you define. Smaller than the equivalent headcount, because the tooling does the repetitive half.

Right when: there’s a deadline, you don’t have a manager spare, and you’d rather buy the outcome than the hours.

TWO SHAPES
Managed delivery pod
Fixed-scope project
WE OWN IT

The function itself

We run the system. There’s an SLA, and the cost doesn’t climb with ticket volume the way a human queue does.

Right when: the project closed, nobody owns it, and it only gets attention when it breaks.

TWO SHAPES
Application managed services
Fractional technical lead

HOW SCREENING CHNAGED

What we test for now that we didn’t three years ago.

Every engineer we place works with AI tooling, because everyone does. The question is whether they’re any good at it, and that isn't on a resume.

01
Can they direct a coding agent and then review what comes back like a sceptic, instead of merging it.
02
Do they notice when the model is confidently wrong about your domain, not just about syntax.
03
Do they build the evaluation before the feature, or find out in production.
04
Have they shipped anything where a model sat in the production path, not just in the IDE.
05
Do they know which parts of the job to hand over and which parts to keep.
06
Can they explain a cost decision — tokens, compute, retries — to somebody in finance.

A resume full of AI keywords tells you they read the same posts you did.

WHAT YOU ACTUALLY RECEIVE

Headcount tested on the parts that cost you money.

An unqualified AI hire is not a neutral outcome. Here is what it costs, and none of it surfaces in a normal interview.

They burn the budget

Wrong model on a high-volume task. Retries left unbounded. No usage ceiling. The invoice arrives at month end and by then it has already happened.

We make them defend a cost decision — tokens, compute, retries — to somebody in finance.

They trade away security

Production data pasted into a public model. A key hardcoded to get the demo working. An agent holding write access to something it should only ever read.

We ask what they let a model touch, and what they refused to let it touch.

They do not know the subject

The model is technically sound and the people who were meant to use it never do, because nobody understood the process it was supposed to serve.

We make them explain the business process in your language, not the model's.

Agencies get paid on submissions, so they submit. You get forty profiles and do the screening yourself. Here is what lands instead.

Submission — Senior Data Engineer, Azure

Illustrative

Candidate A· 8 yrs, Databricks + ADF, currently contract at a health insurer

2 weeks
Closest match on the pipeline work. Built the same ingestion pattern at similar volume. In the technical he caught two bugs the agent introduced and explained why — write-up attached.
Our reservation: never worked under audit. If your compliance load is heavy, expect a ramp.

Candidate B· 12 yrs, deep Synapse, ex-Microsoft partner

Now
More senior than the role needs. Would be the strongest person on the team and could pull your two juniors up fast.
Our reservation:likely bored inside six months unless the scope grows. Worth deciding before you interview.

Candidate C· 5 yrs, strong dbt and orchestration, lighter on Azure

4 weeks
Everything transferable is there. The Azure specifics are a few weeks of ramp, not a retrain.
Our reservation:if you need somebody productive in week one, this isn’t them.

Every submission names the reservation. If we don’t have anybody worth your time, we say that instead of sending three anyway.

HOW WE OPERATE

Ready before day one.

Most of a hiring delay happens before anyone reads a resume. Procurement, insurance, security review and onboarding are cleared before the work starts, not during it.

One vendor, three shapes

A trained recruiting team working from the requirement, not a keyword string. First qualified submissions inside 24 hours on roles we have profiled before.

Workflow compliance

We work inside your VMS, your timesheet system, and your onboarding and offboarding steps. Certificates of insurance on file and ready to submit.

Security and privacy

Background checks, NDAs and data handling agreed before anybody starts. File extracts instead of system access wherever the work allows it.

Scale with you

One engineer or a team of thirty, up and back down again. The same account lead stays as it grows and the commercial terms do not restart.

HOW SOON WE CAN START

You use Kelly, OCG, Pontoon, Pro Unlimited, Yoh, or Tapfin

We’re already an approved supplier there.

Same day

You already hold an MSA with us

Forward the requirement.

Same day

New direct MSA

Standard terms, insurance certs, security questionnaire.

About a week

WHAT CLIENTS SAY

Twenty-one years of it.

WinMax knew that I needed an entire team in less than a month, and was able to provide several amazing resources in only a couple of weeks.

VP Engineering

My experience across multiple client engagements has been consistently outstanding over the past decade I have worked with WinMax.

Director of Business Analytics

Tell us what’s stuck. We’ll tell you what shape it is.

A role, a project, or a system that should sit with us. We’ll say which, and why.

No deck before we’ve read the requirement.
